We moved to Colterscleuch in 2013 and lived in the cottage while we started the task of fully renovating the 'big house' next door.
As soon as we advertised the cottage for self catering holidays, the bookings came in one after another. People loved staying here and it spurred us on to complete the house. In less than a year we were open for business at Colterscleuch house, providing 4 star B&B accommodation.
Until recently we provided award winning Bed & Breakfast at Colterscleuch House, offering a personal service to guests, allowing them to feel cared for yet not smothered. Our dedication and attention to detail has beed rewarded with multiple awards from TripAdvisor, gaining a five bubble Certificate of Excellence in each trading year and awards of 9.8 and above from Booking.com, Expedia, Trivago and Hotels Combined every year.
We will continue to provide a warm and personal welcome to everyone as we change direction and open our doors for self catering holidays in both Colterscleuch House & Colterscleuch Cottage. We hope you enjoy Coltersclech as much as we do!
GREENER & CLEANER
At Colterscleuch we aim to be as environmentally responsible and self sustaining as possible.
Whilst renovating the house, we installed a Biomass, renewable energy hot water and heating system, 80% more efficient LED lights and insulated every nook and cranny we could find. We have upgraded the windows to the most thermally efficient traditional sash & case windows available.
We have our own fresh water spring and have installed a new, chemical free filtration system.
As we progress, we intend taking advantage of the fantastic light levels in the Teviot Valley with roof mounted solar panels. In the future, we also plan to use the plentiful water supply off the hills via a hydro electric system and look forward to generating our own electricity.
We hope to become truly self sustaining and environmentally responsible.
It was all hands on deck during renovations -anyone who stopped by was given a job to do!
Out with the old dirty oil system and in with the shiny renewable energy system - beautiful!
