Breakfast at Colterscleuch is a real Scottish affair!
We try to use as much local Scottish Borders produce as we can and when that's not
possible, we source from further afield in Scotland.
We support our neighbours & local farmers by serving their lovingly reared meats*,
their honey and even the rapeseed oil we cook with. We have our own hens who create wonderful eggs for your breakfasts too.
Mum & Dad grow soft fruits and make our jams. They use much less sugar and pesticide free fruit.
Our marmalade is also made by Mum, however our Scottish weather is not conducive to orange growing, so we have to buy them in!
We have recently created raised beds, soft fruit beds and built a greenhouse so that we can produce more home grown food for you.
* Our sausages and black pudding are from 'Going Native' in Hawick. Mary selects and buys the best live animals from our local cattle market for butchering at her shop. We often watch them grow up in the fields around us! She has farmers rearing old breeds of pig especially for her to make the best ever sausages... yumm!
Colterscleuch House B&B is our refurbished Vicotrian
farmhouse. We have added modern comforts while retaining
the beauty of the original Victorian architecture.
We believe there are three must haves at a Bed & Breakfast - a good bed, a good shower and a good breakfast (see below for details)
We aim to offer that plus a little more.
Our rooms are generously proportioned with superking, king or twin beds. We have 2 rooms with sofa beds allowing a comfortable stay for families with up to 2 childern (5 years of age & over). These rooms also sleep 3 adults comfortably. All rooms have Freeview TV with radio & DVD player, tea & coffee making facilities and hair driers. All rooms have en suite facilities with underfloor heating and powerful showers over deep enamel baths.
Free WiFi is available throughout the house.
