WOODWORKING with The Big Tree Society
Sign up for one of their renowned day or weekend courses to make anything from a simple stool to bigger pieces of furniture.
These events are for ordinary folk wanting to get creative and learn how to get the best out of their natural surroundings. Group sessions can be arranged.
The big tree society is all about green morality, total respect for what and who surrounds us, a thirst for learning and a genuine desire to pass on knowledge to others.

FELTING with Ann Smith
Ann is a local artist known particularly for her felt painting.
Her workshops are a fantastic way to learn a new skill. Even those who think they can’t draw or paint can create a beautiful felt painting, flower brooches or even a vase.
Ann is a fantastic teacher and the workshops are always fun. You will be amazed at what you produce!
BEASTIE ASSEMBLAGE with Linda Lovatt (Winner of ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas’ 2018)
Linda’s ‘Beasties’ are in fact beautiful creations made from broken pottery, jewellery, metal and intriguing finds. They are assmbled into whimsical ormaments, jewellery and pictures. You can make yours using your own finds and diving into her treasure trove of goodies. Wonderful fun and so rewarding when you see your little creation come to life!

KEILDER OBSERVATORY
Kielder Observatory is one of the most remarkable places to visit in the whole of the UK.
A public astronomical observatory which is second to none, under some of the darkest skies in the world where you’ll find “infinite inspiration” and wonders you could never have imagined!
You must book well in advance as dates fill very quickly.
Perfect viewing conditions cannot be guaranteed, however there is always something to see and learn about.

The Scottish Borders is home to some world class mountain biking and the regular haunt of all kinds of bikers on cross-country trails or high-octane down-hilling.
If you want to put your rough-riding skills to the test, any of the following locations will provide some of the best outdoor workouts in the country. You will also find the best routes for all abilities and for families too.

There are spectacular walking routes all accross the Scottish Borders.
Colterscleuch is an excellent base from which to explore and a cosy retreat to relax in afterwards.
